School Values and Christian Distinctiveness

"Let Your Light Shine"

Our aims (and values):

  • For forgiveness and reconciliation in safe surrounding (Forgiveness)
  • To seek experiences to spark the confidence to nurture and show delight (Love)
  • To illuminate hopes, dreams and aspirations (Hope)
  • To build humanity through relationships inspired by the glow of others (Friendship)
  • To value everyone through thoughts and actions (Respect)

"In the same way, let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven". Matthew. Chapter 5. Verse 16

Our pupil and staff conduct links to our school vision and what we aspire to be.

Every term we focus on a Value - not only in our Collective Worship, but in all we do.

This term our value is... 'Perseverance'.

Christmas Story 2020

Revs Alan and Jane wrote a script for each class to film separately in their bubbles. I'm sure you will all agree that it created a wonderful Big Story of God!

Harvest Festival 2020

This year was a little different to other years as we couldn't go to the Church as a whole school. Instead Revs Alan and Jane created a special Harvest service for the children to participate in at school.

You can watch our service by clicking on the link below.

Christianity in our school

As a church of England (Controlled) school, Christian Values are at the heart of our school, allowing pupils to worship, grow and develop in a secure, happy and creative environment.

Collective Worship

As a church school we place great emphasis on learning to live the Christian ethos. Our weekly collective worship takes the following format:

Monday: Alternate weeks - Values based whole school collective worship led by the Head Teacher/Open the Book led by at team from St Matthew's and St Oswald's Church

Tuesday: Values based class collective worship led by class teachers

Wednesday: Values based whole school collective worship led by a teacher/Vicar

Thursday: Values based class collective worship led by class teachers

Friday: Whole class celebration assembly/whole class assembly. Parents are invited to attend these and then are welcomed back to the classroom to see children's work and take part in activities with the children.

Worship Group

The children spend time in prayer and reflection as well as planning special church services and collective worship which they deliver to the whole school once every term.

The Worship Group were instrumental in developing our School Vision and Values. (see the Power Point in how our vision was created).

The pupils in this group take the lead on Harvest and Easter charity appeals (Rugby Foodbank and Transforming Lives for Good - Make Lunch).

The Worship Group are currently working towards;

Consulting classes on developing their classroom worship spaces

Developing a Reflection Garden

Designing a School Values Day

Developing links with a school in Mozambique which is linked to our local church

Our School Blessing

May God bless us with the knowledge of His love,

As we work, learn, play, and care for each other,

And as He blesses us, may our lights shine in the world.
