20th May 2016
This week, we have been reading ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and we have been painting the different characters from the story. We have been creating our own wanted posters to warn others about the giant, using adjectives to describe the giant and drawing pictures of the giant as well. We have been tasting different fruit, talking about what we liked and didn't like and describing what it looks like, feels like, smells like and tastes like. We have been counting and recognising numbers. We went on a nature hunt and made nature faces, thinking about how we are feeling.
13th May 2016
This week, we have been reading ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and we have been climbing up beanstalks, talking about all the different feelings the characters feel throughout the story and we made delicious golden egg biscuits. We enjoyed played the bean game, where we were different beans – runner beans (we had to run) jelly beans (we had to shake like a jelly.) We had a letter from the giant and we had to measure things in Nursery which were longer, shorter or the same size as the Giant’s footprint. We loved controlling the bee-bots (programmable toys) and making them move forwards, backwards and turn.
22nd April 2016
This week, we have been very busy learning all about Spring, we enjoyed our spring walk on Monday. We have been fantastic investigators spotting all the different signs of spring - buds, blossom and daffodils growing in our Nursery garden, the field and in forest school. We really enjoyed making sausages rolls on Tuesday where we read the recipe and wrote our shopping lists for all the ingredients we needed before making them. We have been learning all about different jobs and writing all about what we would like to be when we grow up, where we have using our phonics, thinking about what words begin with. We made jigsaws out of photocopies of our baby photographs.
Next week we are learning all about how plants grow and we will be planting beanstalks. We will be reading 'Jasper's Beanstalk' and 'Jack and the Beanstalk.' We will be writing a class diary of our beans growing. We will creating pictures of flowers and making gardens. We will be digging and looking after our Nursery garden.
15th April 2016
This week, we have been learning all about how people grow and the stages of life; starting in our Mummies tummy, being born, baby, toddler, child, teenager, adult and old age pensioner. We have had a very special visitor on Monday morning, baby Olive came in to see us and her Mummy told us how she looks after her and what babies need. We have been looking at our baby pictures (if you haven’t sent in your child’s baby pictures, please can you send them in, thank you) and thinking about how we have changed from being a baby. We have been enjoying the sunshine, playing and learning outside!
Next week we will be talking about growing up and what we would like to be when we grow up. We will be going on a spring walk, looking at all the signs of spring. Please can you ensure that your child has a pair of wellies at Nursery, thank you.
8th April 2016
This week, all the children have come back happily and settled into Nursery. We have been very busy learning all about growing; how we grow from a baby to a toddler, then child, then teenager, then adult to an old age pensioner / senior citizen. We cut out pictures and sequenced them and wrote labels on our stages of human life. We have been learning about how to stay healthy and grow up to be strong by eating healthily and exercising. We have been exercising outside and growing through obstacles courses. We have been learning all about who looks after us if we get sick and we have loved role playing being Doctors, Nurses and patients in our Hospital.
Next week we are learning all about babies and what babies need. Please can you send in a named photograph of your child as a baby so we can talk about what we were like as a baby and how we have changed and what we can do now. We are very lucky to have two babies and their mums visiting and showing what babies need. We will be talking about growing up and what we would like to be when we grow up.
18th March 2016
This week, we have been very busy; we loved our Space party on Monday. We played lots of space games including space walk freeze, pass the asteroid and don't drop the alien! We sang our space songs and enjoyed our moon, planets and stars snacks (jaffa cakes, doughnut and star shaped crisps) with rocket fuel juice!
We have been learning all about Easter, listening to the Easter Story and talking about how we and other people celebrate Easter. We made amazing chick and rabbit cards all by ourselves and wrote our names inside them. We sang lots of Easter songs, including Hot Cross Buns and tried Hot Cross Buns at snack time, talking about the significance of the cross. We loved sharing our Easter bonnets in our parade and going on an egg hunt!
Next half term, we will be learning all about growing, why don't you go and help your parents, grandparents or other family members in their garden? Or you could go on a spring walk - you could look at all the signs of spring and what is growing; daffodils, grass, dandelions, blossom on the trees and then write about them, draw them or stick them in your book.
11th March 2016
This week, we have been very busy reading stories about aliens and we have been creating our own aliens out of play dough. We have been talking about what aliens could look like and painting our own aliens. We have been learning all about the different planets in our solar system - the milky way. We made delicious planet pizzas, choosing and cutting our own toppings. We have started learning phonemes (sounds,) we have learnt ‘t’ this week, we have been looking at lots of objects that begin with t. We have been thinking about patterns after reading "Aliens love underpants" and we have been talking about the different patterns we spotted and can spot everywhere. We have been counting aliens and recognising numbers when sorting them.
Next week, we are looking forward to our space party on Monday 14th March, where we will playing space games, singing space songs and having space snacks! We will be learning all about Easter, reading the Easter story and we will be finding out how different people celebrate Easter. We will be making Easter cards and doing Easter crafts. Please come to our special Easter stay and play on Thursday in your Easter bonnet, there will be a prize for the best child-made bonnet.

This week, we have been very busy making special cards, we hope you like the flowers on the card. We have been practising writing our names. We have been counting to 10 and back down again to blast off! We made delicious space and rocket drinks using juice at snack time. We were brilliant listeners when Kevin Price, a children’s author came in to read us one of his stories and we loved joining in with his games. We have started learning phonemes (sounds,) we have learnt ‘a’ this week, we have been looking at lots of objects that begin with a. We have been reading space books and learning space songs.
Next week, we will be continuing to learn all about space and thinking about aliens. We will be making aliens in the playdough and in the creative area. We will be thinking about planets and we will be making planet pizzas. Yummy!

This week, we have been very busy travelling to space in our rocket, exploring the moon and writing in our space logbooks. We have been making fantastic rockets and counting down to blast them to off to space! We have been naming and recognising 2D shapes and we made brilliant shape rockets. We have started learning phonemes (sounds,) we have learnt s this week and made yummy star biscuits. We have been looking at lots of objects that begin with s. We have been reading space books and learning space songs.

We have been learning about and celebrating Chinese New Year. We made a Chinese dancing dragon and learnt to use chopsticks to eat some noodles, prawn crackers, spring roll and a biscuit.
Home – School Communication –29th January 2016
This week, we have loved finding out about sea creatures and playing under the sea in our role play area, where we have been naming all the different sea creatures. We have enjoyed reading sea creature stories including "The Snail and The Whale" and "Tiddler" and we have been learning lots of new songs. We have been recognising numbers and trying to write our numbers to 5 whilst singing 5 Little Fishes. We have been drawing fantastic sea creatures and painting the sea on top of them. We really enjoyed making croissant crabs and we hope they enjoyed eating them!
Next week, we will tasting fish, including tuna and salmon, at snack time. The fish we will buy will be boneless and skinless, if you would like any more information please see a member of staff in Nursery. We will be creating bubble paintings and we will be playing positional language games with sea creatures.

This week, we have been very busy learning all about winter, we have been using the internet in groups, to find out about different winter animals who live in the Arctic and Antarctic, including Arctic Hares, Seals and Penguins. We went on a winter hunt walk around the school looking for signs of winter - holly, robins and berries. We used knives safely to chop lots of vegetables for our winter warming vegetable soup, which we enjoyed at snack time after our winter walk. We made our own puffy paint (with foam and glue) and created fantastic snowmen pictures. We have been thinking about the birds and made bird feeders for our outside area. We made brilliant winter shakers thinking about the sounds during winter.

Happy new year!
We hope you had a brilliant, restful Christmas holiday and we wish you a very happy and prosperous new year. The children have come back happy and settled, ready to learn. This week, we have enjoyed learning all about Winter and we have loved playing in the winter wonderland role play, where we have been fishing for numbered fish in the ice hole and cooking using the BBQ. We have been counting snowmen and recognising numbers on the snowmen. We have been making brilliant cold, frosty winter pictures; talking about what happens in winter and how winter makes us feel. In circle time, we shared our holiday news and wrote about our holiday and our Christmas presents.
Next week, we will be going on a winter walk, talking about what clothes to wear in winter to keep us warm and we will be making winter warming vegetable soup!
Week ending 4th December 2015
This week, we enjoyed going to see “The Gruffalo’s Child,” the children really loved the performance and were all superstars and were a credit to the school. They were all so well behaved on the coach and in the theatre. We are very proud of all the Nursery children. We have been writing all about the theatre show and talking about what we enjoyed. We have been practising our songs in the hall ready to perform to parents and carers next week. We have been making amazing Gruffalo puppets and hats to act out being the Gruffalo. We have been making Reindeer food to sell at the Christmas Fayre.
Week ending 27th November
This week, we have enjoyed reading “The Gruffalo’s Child” we have been talking about different feelings and what we can do when we feel scared. We have been making amazing Gruffalo puppets and Gruffalo cakes. We have been using the language from the story and we have learnt the Gruffalo song! We have been playing lots of games including counting games, rhyming games and snap! We have been very busy outside, building the Gruffalo cave, making potions and being Gruffalos!
Week ending 13th November
This week, we have enjoyed learning all about and celebrating Diwali. We found out all about the Hindu festival of light and how people celebrate Diwali. We listened to the Rama and Sita story. We have made beautiful divas (remember to put something under the diva if you light it.) We created fantastic Diwali cards for our families. We made delicious Indian sweets using apricots and cream cheese and enjoyed them at snack time. We made rangoli patterns in play dough, on the maths table and we developed our scissor control making rangoli window decorations. We have enjoyed music time; we are learning lots of new songs ready for our performance in December!
Week ending 6th November
The children have all come back and settled in fantastically well. This week, we have enjoyed learning all about bonfire night; we created brilliant bonfire pictures by mixing two colours together to create a new colour. We made different firework sounds and wrote all the different sounds that fireworks make on rockets. We have been talking about fireworks and made chocolate sparklers, which were very yummy! We played colour games, working on learning all our colours and turn taking with others. We have enjoyed music time with Reception and we have started learning lots of new songs ready for our performance to you in December!
Next week, we are really looking forward to learning all about Diwali with Reception. We will be making divas, Diwali cards and Ragnoli patterns.
Week ending 9th October
This week, Nursery has been very busy raising lots of money for our outside area, we have already raised over £100, please can you bring in any sponsorship money you have raised, if you haven't bought it in already. We want to say a huge THANK YOU for your support and generosity this week, thank you for your toys, pennies, sponsorship money and the kind donation of a kitchen and tea trolley for our role play outside. The children have been thinking about what we would like to buy for our outside area. We have been listening carefully to all the different sounds we can hear outside and making different sounds with our voices. We have been painting Naughty buses. We have digging potatoes we have grown in the Nursery garden and we enjoyed our jacket potatoes at snack time.
Week ending 2nd October 2015
This week, Nursery has been reading “Naughty Bus” and we have been exploring where the bus has been and thinking about where the bus could go. We enjoyed making strawberry pudding that the Naughty Bus could drive through. We also drove the Naughty Bus through jelly and beans! We have been thinking about why we are special and what makes us special. We have been counting people on to the bus and we have enjoyed driving the bus we made together. We have been making Incy Wincy spiders and mending Humpty Dumpty, singing lots of nursery rhymes together.
