Black History Month October 2025

In October, we celebrated Black History Month. Every year, Black History month is celebrated in October and the theme for this year was ‘Standing Firm in the Power and Pride’. Each class found out about a Black person from history and how they influenced the time that they lived as well as the impact they have had on society and the world. From Garrett Augustus Morgan (invented the three position traffic lights), Sarah Forbes Bonetta (worked alongside Queen Victoria) to Jacques Francis (diver for King Henry VIII). The whole school enjoyed finding out more about how Black people have shaped the world that we live in today.

Tuesday 4th November 2025. Year 6 tour of Rugby School to find out more about the life of Rupert Brooke and his links to Rugby.

On Wednesday 14th October children learnt about famous black Britons who have made great achievements across a range of professions. They learnt about Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, Sir Lenny Henry, Mary Seacole, Joseph Coelho, Mo Farah and Nicola Adams.

The children were very inspired by the stories of these individuals. Some of the classes have gone on to create fact-files and biographies about one of the people they learnt about.

Jubilee Day. Children across the school learnt about the Queen and the Royal Family.
