"In the same way, let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven". Matthew. Chapter 5. Verse 16
Christianity in our school
As a church of England (Controlled) school, Christian Values are at the heart of our school, allowing pupils to worship, grow and develop in a secure, happy and creative environment.
As a church school we place great emphasis on learning to live the Christian ethos. Our weekly collective worship takes the following format:
Monday: Values based whole school collective worship led by the Head Teacher.
Tuesday: Values based whole school collective worship led by a representative from our local church or our school Worship Group
Wednesday: Values based whole school collective worship led by a teacher
Thursday: Values based whole school collective worship led by a teacher
Friday: Whole class celebration assembly/whole class assembly. Parents are invited to attend these and then are welcomed back to the classroom to see children's work and take part in activities with the children.
Mrs Elson leads Worship Group on a Friday afternoon. It is attended by children in Years 5 and 6.
The children spend time in prayer and reflection as well as planning special church services and collective worship which they deliver to the whole school once every term.
The Worship Group were instrumental in developing our School Vision and Values. (see the Power Point in how our vision was created).
The Worship Group are currently working towards;
Consulting classes on developing their classroom worship spaces
Developing a Reflection Garden
Designing a School Values Day
Our School Prayer (Adapted from the Coventry ICON School Litany of Reconciliation)
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
The hate which splits country from country, colour from colour, rich from poor
The jealousy of people and countries to own what is not theirs
The greed which damages other people and the rest of the earth
Our envy of the life and happiness of others
When we don’t care about the suffering of people who are trapped, homeless or in danger
The abuse which hurts ourselves and others inside and outside
The times when we are big-headed and think we know better than God
Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave you.
