Safer Internet Day 2014

Safer Internet Day is organised in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre in February of each year to promote the safe and responsible use of online technology and mobile phones for children and young people.

All classes explored what they use the internet and mobile technology for and how they should stay safe whilst doing so. At the end of the day everybody gathered in the hall for an assembly from Mr Twynholm who told us all about being SMART.

S:  Be Safe

Keep your personal information safe and secret. Think carefully before you share a photo of yourself or your friends.

M: Don't meet up

Never arrange to meet an online friend because it can be dangerous. No matter how well you think you know people, they might be pretending.

A: Accepting emails can be dangerous

If you receive junk mail (called spam) or messages that make you feel uncomfortable, tell an adult that you trust and delete them. Don't reply to them

R: Reliable?

The internet is full of friendly people and amazing information. However, sometimes people might say or write things which are untrue, so you should always think carefully before trusting what you see or hear.

T: Tell Someone!

Most of the time that you are online you will have lots of fun. However, if you see anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or worried, make sure that you tell an adult that you trust.

We had a really good day and everyone learnt a lot!

Children's thoughts about our Awe and Wonder Day

'I most enjoyed the zumba activity because I loved the music and dance moves'

'I felt happy'

'I liked the activity where we got to make out own pizza. It was a good opportunity for the little ones . I enjoyed working with younger ones so they can pick stuff up from older ones.'

'I enjoyed making the scumptious pizza because we got to make it and draw it. I also liked the yoga. Miss Porter kept showing off. It was a great idea.'

'The walk was very heart touching and very calm. I liked the part when you put the flower in the water and I liked being part of the worship group because I believe in God.'

It was a ery nice walk because we read all the slabs and had teacakes for our daily bread then wrote our hopes on a flower and put it in water then they opened.'

'It was very peaceful'

'I liked the prayer walk because we learn more about God.'
